I did redstone for the Minecraft Movie

In this Mumbo Jumbo Minecraft redstone video, Mumbo takes a look at all of the redstone contraptions he built for Mojang Studios ‘a Minecraft Movie’ directed by Jared Hess and starring Jack Black, Jason Momoa, Emma Myres, Danielle Brooks and Sebastien Hansen. These Minecraft movie builds range from small redstone contraptions, to giant walking robots.

video idea: remake the cut scenes that could have been in the Minecraft movie with those builds that you showed us within Minecraft with a story line, but you are only allowed to use all of the structures and the scenes that you made that didn't end up in the movie, which is still a lot to work with.
Another potential side project/video idea: recreate "a Minecraft movie" within Minecraft and have the main characters be YouTubers. The story would be the same and kind of find a way to build "the outside world" (if that is possible, if not then just use another dimension). You could use mods and editing freely.

I was watching the movie yesterday, knew you were in it but didn't regonize you ahh ^^' very cool that they reached out to you for doing redstone builds

Imagine building a contraption so complex that it can't even be brought to film. I'm certain that, among the ugliness of the actual face of the build, is what ultimately made them conclude that the build couldn't work. Looking at that giant piglin would have been cool to witness, but only really for hardcore Minecraft enthusiasts. My guess is, they also wanted a casual audience to watch and enjoy it. Ngl, I am probably in that same boat, even though I really enjoy building redstone contraptions myself.

I'm so torn about this 🙁 I really don't like anything about the movie, I think it's a shallow Hollywood money grab with direction that isn't really true to the Minecraft community (for one, I think it should've been fully animated, MC animations are one of the oldest and coolest parts of the community), but at the same time, this must've been a dream come true for you! I'm glad you were so involved, it does make me happy to hear about all of the community involvement they did work into the movie, I just think we deserved better. All that notwithstanding, great work, I'm glad you had fun, I hope you keep making wonderful things forever

Just finished watching the movie two days ago and had a blast. I immediately noticed how accurate the redstone was in the movie and had a feeling you were involved lol (I completely avoided all promotional material other than the main 2 trailers that came out for the movie)!

So what I take from this is… Mumbo inspired the existence of the Happy Ghast. It was his idea for entities to ride ghasts. Mumbo for new Mojang game designer, please! 😂

Even though almost nothing you built made it into the final film, it's reassuring to know that the artistic team did the due diligence of working with creators and at least attempting to blend true minecraft into their visual style.

This is so cool! I have like 20 builds from you that go waaaay back when I was just learning how to play. If it wasn't a Mumbo build, it wasn't being made on my world. Its so wonderful to know that you helped on the movie and had a part in it as a character too. Gratz to you good sir!

Okay, I haven't seen any footage from the movie since the trailer first dropped, and man, it looks BAD lol
Having said that, the things talked about in thisvudeo are actually kinda cool
