What Is an AI Anyway? | Mustafa Suleyman | TED

When it comes to artificial intelligence, what are we actually creating? Even those closest to its development are struggling to describe exactly where things are headed, says Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman, one of the primary architects of the AI models many of us use today. He offers an honest and compelling new vision for the future of AI, proposing an unignorable metaphor — a new digital species — to focus attention on this extraordinary moment. Here's why you do not want this man to be the first to create AGI… the first question that he asks himself is "Is AI going to solve climate change?" when the real question he should be asking is "Is man-made climate change impactful enough on the climate for it to matter?" Just this simple bias means that he will program AI to not seek the truth (like he doesn't want to seek), but instead seek the goal that he wants. He may act like he is such a curious and open-minded person, but leading your speech with a blanket generalization that he is correct, means that he isn't.

I noticed something. We're already treating the AI like slaves, demanding premium work for next to no compensation. And we're already arguing with it, over future security and the diminishing of human resources. I'm pretty sure we're off to a bad start. This is how wars are started, lol.

@MaganDaniel, I like how you incorporated this TED talk into your Digital Citizenship playlist. This does an excellent job of discussing the vision and future of AI. I really enjoyed how he discussed the evolution of moving from basic language and writing to industrial technologies, and that evolution continues. I think this video would be best suited for businesses and higher education. Thanks for sharing.

This guy is an idiot. "Look, AI sh*ts out tons of images and text! It amplifies creativity! People have so many meaningful conversations with AIs"
It drown creativity in AI slop, it replaces human communication with some poor statical analysis.
It can be a good tool, but those examples are awful.

@mdaniel…Your digital citizenship and AI playlist is super relevant and really well put together! The videos seem credible with solid sources, and I like how you included a range of perspectives and formats—it kept things interesting. The flow from one video to the next made sense, and the visuals and narration were engaging throughout. Great job curating this!

Microsoft AI and Azure complicit in the Genocide of Palestinians, providing the Israeli IDF with the means to collect data and analytics on all Palestinians as well as to gather data using a Microsoft campaign on BDS.

Sources: Ibtihal Aboussad and Vaniya Agrawal who sent an email to all Microsoft employees to raise awareness of their complicity, including this CEO and were subsequently fired.

Not all heroes wear capes!

Long story short; The Ancient Gods/Extraterrestrials that came to Planet Earth hundreds of thousands of years ago created the human Race as a replacement solution to a labor force revolt. The humans spread quickly over the face of the Earth and started to war with one another. They became a serious threat to the way of life for the Ancient gods. A plan was hatched to annihilate humans by a flood. But a remnant survived and replenished the Earth. The gods eventually withdrew and handed power over to the humans. Ref: The Atrahasis. And now humans will repeat history again. and it's Not going to end well for us.
